Chem4Kids Quiz: Lipids

Lipids are found in every cell on Earth. The cell membrane is called a lipid bilayer because of the phospholipids in the structure. The phospholipids in the cell membrane have hydrophobic (water-hating) and hydrophilic (water-loving) ends. They organize themselves in a bilayer because the hydrophobic tails meet each other in the middle and the hydrophilic heads face the outside world.
